The Dwarven Forge is where the most exotic arms and armaments are made. From the ever flowing magma, they forge raw iron into master works. The glowing liquid flows from the cracks of the great hall and into the smoldering pit below. The steam rises as they pound and shape the material into the desired implement. A skill only the Dwarves know how to do. This also comes at the highest price imaginable. To retrieve the material is often a deadly excursion - one where the brave delve deep into the fiery pits below, and into the unstable caves and darker places that weave and wind under the great hall. Danger aside, the promise of wealth and the pursue of perfection keeps them busy. Will you join them in their quest of perfection? Will you help fend-off a fiery foe? That choice - is up to you.

Points of Interest

  • Altar - The rectangular stone can be used for many things in your campaign - for religious use, sacrifice, hall meetings and announcements and more. This map also comes with 6 different versions of this area.

    • Altar - The standard rectangular slab. Ambiguous enough to use in a variety of situations.

    • Dragon - Asleep on a pile of treasure. Whether its trained or hostile, revered or feared, is up to you!

    • Gothic - A eldritch / Cthulhu like statue of a woman with deadly tentacles takes the original altars place. Body parts and bones lie around its base. Braziers are lit and the feeling is ominous. The Eldritch and Haunted versions are especially cool for this one - but the other versions could set a much different tone for the dwarf culture in your world. Choose wisely!

    • Orb - A magic orb floats, crackling and humming with mystic force. Is this the magic entity that enables the Dwarves? Was it an ancient mage from eons forgotten that created this place? The lore is ready to be written.

    • Treasure - A pile of treasure around the altar, a vault or tribute - both extremely important to the livelihoods of each local that works the forge.

    • Empty - Is described and included under the buildings section just below!

  • Buildings

    • Blacksmith - A shop filled with tools for mining and forging as well as expertly crafted arms and armor.

    • Tavern - A small but solid tavern made almost entirely of stone. A place where the local miners and smiths alike come after a long days work. Quests to be had and mugs to be filled!

    • Inn - A place for the party or an important NPC to reside. This lonely 3 bed structure is the perfect point for rest, for intrigue and for a rendezvous with your dwarven contact.

    • Empty - Each theme of this map as an empty version included. The interiors of the 3 buildings are cleared out for you to use and fill as you wish for whatever you have planned.

  • Tomb - In the center of the forge is a tomb of an ancient or revered king or elder or even legend. On days when mining and forging are hard - the locals remember all that was sacrificed to get to this point. Its ever-glowing runes - a reminder of just how powerful they are.

  • Forging Stations - On the far west and east battlements are forging stations, lined with piping-hot flame and iron. This is where the smiths of the forge craft. Long hours near the forge are brutal - only something a dwarf could manage for a life-time.

  • Elevators - The descend down into the fiery hellscape below is by these very lifts. Whether stopping at the pit level, where the lava flows are fresh or whether descending further down into the darkest abyss are both equally dangerous and not for the faint of heart. Dwarves equip themselves with special armor and other gear so they have marginally better chance of seeing another day. The next quest is definitely delving into the unknown below.
